Children & Youth Lessons
Learning • Seeing • Interpreting...
Students will learn step-by-step fundamental skills of drawing, painting and understanding color. As students’ skill levels increase, so will the challenges of each new project. In addition to learning technical and artistic skills, students gain patience, focus, pride and confidence in their work. They come to see it is completely possible to set and realize their artistic goals.
A wide range of mediums and techniques and projects will be explored, including:
- Charcoal Drawing • Pen & Ink
- Pencil Drawing • Water Based Oil Pastels
- Collage • Painting with Tempera
Visuals of painters, past and present will be shown to help
students understand different methods of painting and techniques - from abstract to realism, expressionism to pointillism and everything in between. Learning from the work of other artists can provide invaluable insight and discoveries of the individual qualities of the artist. Studying their version of the way color and style, lines and perspective are used can inspire and reflect on their own work. |
